CMS Land Company is working right now with environmental regulators on the state and federal level to develop a final plan for the work at Bay Harbor and East Park.

The residents of the Petoskey area and the Little Traverse Bay need a final plan that protects the water and completes the environmental work. Without it, area residents continue to face the potential for disruption, and the local economy stands to suffer.

The original development and current environmental work make the project a recognized brownfield redevelopment success story. The redevelopment effort transformed an environmentally blighted area into two public parks and a world class resort that draws tourists from around the world. The Bay Harbor community has contributed more than $110 million in property taxes and $40 million in wages and services to the local economy since its inception.

Local residents and officials gathered to celebrate the official reopening of Resort Township's East Park on June 20, 2009. Final remedies need to be approved for both East Park and Bay Harbor to protect the environment and to minimize resident disruption and negative impacts to the economy.
